Use of the Playfield
1. Policy Statement
1.1.
This use policy has been developed to define the priority use of this space, how to schedule use of this space, the process used when there are wet or rainy conditions, and general use guidelines.
1.2.
The Playfield is located between the South Gym and the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center. This space is designated as the primary grass space for teaching Kinesiology classes. In addition, this grass space is the primary grass space used by the Intramural Program University High School P.E. classes, Fresno State club sports, ROTC conditioning classes, and open use by students, student organizations, and the general public.
1.3.
Because of the heavy use of this grass space, the grass becomes worn out and damaged. In an effort to improve the overall quality of the grass space for all users, a fence has been installed around the entire grass space area. The fence will restrict unauthorized vehicular traffic, provide safety for pedestrians on sidewalks from getting hit by errant balls, restrict pedestrian traffic from crossing playing fields while games/activities are occurring, and has numerous gates that can be locked during wet/rainy conditions, if the field is not safe for use, or if maintenance work is being done.
